Youth Games preparations to kick into high gear this month

IN BEIJING - SINGAPORE’S preparations for the inaugural Youth Games in 2010 go into full swing later this month, following a top-level meeting with the International Olympics Committee (IOC). Mr Ng Ser Miang, chairman of the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (SYOGOC), said there will be a ‘full download of knowledge’ from the IOC in areas like marketing and logistics during the April 13 - 18 meeting.
Top IOC officials are also expected to meet the key players behind Singapore’s preparations so that ‘everyone is fully in-sync’, added Mr Ng, who is in town for a meeting of the 205 member countries in the Olympic movement.
At the meeting, he gave a progress report on the Youth Olympics which he said was greeted positively. Olympic officials from many countries, including India and Australia, also chipped in with ideas and offers for assistance.
